Diverse Australia Inc. will be proudly applying for funding for its Outer Adelaide IT HUB concept – a place where both adults and kids could learn IT skills to embrace the post COVID-19 world.
In reports of the World Economic Forum about the Future of Work and Jobs, it is estimated that 65% of students entering primary school today will work in jobs that don’t yet exist, and 85% of the jobs that will exist in 2030 have not been invented yet.
Students today need to be prepared to face the unknown challenges that they will have in a future governed by technology. What is currently known is that in order for them to be successful in their future jobs and thrive as adults, they need to develop from an early age 21st century skills like creativity, critical thinking or collaboration.
We want to create a framework for the children today to be valuable future adults in the Australian society by organizing Coding Clubs for students ages 8 to 15 to help them develop 21st century skills through technology. They will learn coding, robotics, IoT or 3D printing in a fun environment designed for their age and needs, and mentored by volunteers who are IT professionals, specialists in these fields. We also see that adult workers employed in tourism, hospitality, retail and other businesses are losing jobs in massive numbers because of the COVID-19 crisis. In our opinion, they might be retrained and employed in the IT sector where there is a constant need for staff despite the tumultuous conditions the world in general and South Australia in particular are facing today. They may become web Developers and Software Testers in months and get out of unemployment and poverty which can devastate their families and the society. Furthermore, this will spark the development of a new industry in South Australia.
